School of Music faculty win ASCAP awards
Six members of the faculty at the School of Music have been chosen as ASCAP award recipients by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers.
The faculty members are Kathryn J. Alexander, associate professor of music; Martin Bresnick, adjunct professor of music; John G. Halle, associate professor of music composition and theory; Ezra Laderman, professor of music; Frank Tirro, professor of music; and Jack Vees, operations director at the Center for Studies in Music Technology. Marcus K. Maroney, who taught at the school last year, also received the award.
The awards reflect the society's "commitment to assist and encourage ASCAP composers." Awards are based upon the value of each writer's catalog of original compositions, as well as recent performances in areas not surveyed by the society.
