Thanksgiving hosts sought
The Office of International Students & Scholars (OISS) is seeking Thanksgiving hosts for international students and scholars and their families.
According to the OISS, there are more than 2,500 international students and scholars who currently call Yale and New Haven their home. Last year, 70 members of the community shared their Thanksgiving festivities with foreign guests.

The Purchasing Department will host its annual scientific/laboratory vendor show at Harkness Lounge and Patio on Wednesday, Oct. 13, and outside the Kline Biology Tower and Bass Building courtyard on Thursday, Oct. 14.
The show will run on both days from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. More than 50 vendors will participate. The show will also feature snacks, raffles and give-a-ways.
The Learning Center and the Divinity School will co-sponsor a two-part workshop titled "Spirit at Work" at the New Haven Lawn Club on Friday, Oct. 22.
The workshop will be conducted by Martin Rutte, a consultant on spirituality in the workplace and co-author of "Chicken Soup for the Soul." The morning session will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and focus on "Storytelling." The afternoon session, lasting from noon until 4 p.m., will be an intensive workshop on "Turning Your Vision into Reality."
The fee for the morning session is $75; $60 for University affiliates. The afternoon session will cost $140; $125 for affiliates. Registration fees include a copy of the author's book, parking and either breakfast or lunch.

The Yale Center for International and Area Studies (YCIAS) has announced the establishment of two prizes for books on international topics written by members of the University faculty.
Each year, a $5,000 prize will be awarded for the best first book and a $5,000 prize will be awarded for the best book. Books published after Jan. 1, 2002 are eligible for consideration this year. Nominations are due in the YCIAS director's office at Luce Hall, 34 Hillhouse Ave., by Saturday, Oct. 30.
The Child Conduct Clinic is currently accepting children between the ages of 2 and 13-and-a-half who are displaying behavioral problems such as lying, disobeying parents, swearing, cheating, fighting, not getting along with others or getting into trouble at school.
