Judy L. Hu, global executive director of advertising and branding for General Electric (GE), will visit the campus as a Gordon Grand Fellow on Tuesday, Oct. 19.
Titled "Imagination at Work," Hu's lecture will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the Branford College common room, 74 High St. Tea will be served at 4 p.m. The talk is free and open to the public
Hu, an alumna of the Yale School of Management, is responsible for GE's brand message around the world. She oversees television, print, outdoor and internet advertising, GE's internal and external websites, global Olympics marketing programs and all branding initiatives.
In 2003, Hu launched a new global campaign, "Imagination at Work," designed to introduce a new vision for the company, communicate the vast range of GE's products and services, and contemporize and humanize the corporation's image. The campaign garnered many awards.
In 2004, Hu introduced a refined and simplified global brand architecture for GE and its businesses, and new design guidelines for the company, which will drive global consistency.
Before joining GE, Hu spent five years with General Motors (GM) as executive director for diversity and growth markets. There, she targeted GM's marketing efforts to key demographic groups critical to growth in the U.S. automotive industry.
Hu currently serves on the board of directors and as secretary of the American Advertising Federation; on the board of directors of the New York American Marketing Association; and as vice chair on the board of directors for the Ad Council.
