Yale Rep auditions
The Yale Repertory Theatre will conduct child auditions for "Brundibár" and "Comedy on the Bridge," two one-act family operas sung in English, on Saturday, Nov. 19, and Sunday, Nov. 20.
The auditions will be open to boy and girl sopranos between the ages of 9 and 13. Individuals should prepare 16 bars of a song and bring sheet music if available. Comfortable clothing should be worn as there will be a movement component to the audition. Auditions are not open to members of the 4A unions or children born before March 5, 1992.

Dr. Sherwin B. Nuland, clinical professor of surgery, will discuss his new book, "Maimonides," at the Joseph Slifka Center, 80 Wall St., on Monday, Nov. 28, at 4:30 p.m.
The talk will be preceded by a reception and book signing at 4 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Nuland, who practiced surgery at Yale-New Haven Hospital for 30 years, is the author of "How We Die: Reflections on Life's Final Chapter," which won the National Book Award for nonfiction in 1994.
Geoffrey H. Hartman, Sterling Professor of English and Comparative Literature, will talk about the "Hartman Reader" in a celebration of his work at the Joseph Slifka Center for Jewish Life at Yale, 80 Wall St., on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at 4:30 p.m. The talk is free and open to the public.
Hartman is considered a "founding father" of the Yale school of literary criticism and is an internationally recognized Wordsworth scholar. In the 1980s, he began to focus his scholarly attention on Judaic studies in general and Holocaust studies in particular. In 1981 he co-founded and became the project director for the Fortunoff Video Archive for Holocaust Testimonies, which preserves the oral histories of almost 200 survivors.
