The Gilder Lehrman Center for the Study of Slavery, Resistance and Abolition is accepting applications for its postdoctoral fellowship program for the academic year 2006-2007.
The center seeks to promote a better understanding of all aspects of the institution of slavery from the earliest times to the present. It coordinates annual international and interdisciplinary conferences, lectures, educational outreach, publications and other activities to bring together scholars and students from across the spectrum of slavery studies.
The fellowship program is designed to support established and younger scholars in researching projects that can be linked to the aims of the center. Three-month fellowships with a stipend of $10,000 each and one-month fellowships with a stipend of $3,000 each are available for the academic year. Scholars currently holding Ph.D.s are invited to apply for either term of fellowship.
The application deadline is April 3 for the fall 2006 and spring 2007 semesters. For complete information about the program, visit the website at www.yale.edu/glc.
The International Center for Students and Scholars, 421 Temple St., has a suite of office space available for visiting international scholars.

Computers are available for use by individuals who do not have their own laptop. Telephone, fax and printer/copier are available for shared use. Scholars will have 24-hour access with a Yale I.D. card.
Interested department contacts are welcome to stop by the center to look at the space or call Ann Kuhlman at (203) 432-2305 with questions. Reservations may be made by sending e-mail to michelle.koss@yale.edu.
