Women Faculty Forum

The Women Faculty Forum (WFF) will host its fifth annual reception to welcome new women faculty and senior administrators, and to celebrate the successes of women who have recently received tenure and women joining Yale's senior administration.

The event will take place 5:30-7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 12, at the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library. The program will include remarks by Frank Turner, director of the library; Inge Reichenbach, vice president of development; Emily Bakemeier, associate provost; Kim Bottomly, deputy provost for science, technology and faculty development; and Emilie Townes, the Andrew W. Mellon Professor of African-American Religion and Theology. In addition, members of the WFF council and its steering committee will present an overview of the plans and projects of the forum.

Walk to cure diabetes

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's annual Walk to Cure Diabetes will be held on Sunday, Sept. 25, at Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield in North Haven. Members of the University community who would like to join the Yale walk team as a team captain should send e-mail to emalie.mayo@yale.edu.


Auditons for a cappella group

The Citations, the Graduate School's a cappella singing group, will hold auditions for new members on Sept. 13, 14 and 15, from 5 to 9 p.m.

The group is particularly interested in adding more bass/baritone and alto voices to the group. The Citations sing a range of musical styles, and rehearse two hours each week.

YUWO event

The Yale University Women's Organization (YUWO) will host a wine- and cheese-tasting reception on Thursday, Sept. 15, 5-7 p.m., at the President's House, 43 Hillhouse Ave.

New and prospective members of the organization are welcome to attend and sign up for activities. Membership is open to any woman who is associated with the Yale community through her own or her family's current or previous affiliation. Dues are $25 per year.


YUWO offers programs and activities such as study groups, book circles and discussion groups, "lunch & learn" lectures, social events and special interest groups. The organization also sponsors a scholarship program for members of the Yale community whose formal education has been interrupted or delayed.

Call for art

The Yale Medical Group Art Place at the Yale Physicians Building is accepting applications for submissions for its 11th exhibit, scheduled for Nov. 17.

Artists from the University, medical center, hospital communities and outside community are invited to submit their work for consideration. Artists must complete an application and submit a portfolio of work with a minimum of 12-15 prints, slides or the actual works between Sept. 27 and Sept. 30.
