Museum hosting talk on Connecticut day trips, annual 'Fiesta Latina'
The Peabody Museum of Natural History will feature a talk on "Exploring Connecticut's Natural Wonders" and a Latin American festival this month.
On Sunday, March 5, 10 a.m.-noon, Brendan Hanrahan, author of "Great Day Trips in the Connecticut Valley of the Dinosaurs," will speak about the history of Connecticut places including a ball field in Deep River that reveals where continents once collided, a park in Rocky Hill that preserves a dinosaur community of 200 million years ago, and a bog in Goshen that has its origins in the last Ice Age. A brunch and book-signing will follow the talk.

On Saturday, March 11, 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m., the museum will present "Fiesta Latina," an annual celebration of Latin American cultures. The festival will feature performances of traditional and contemporary Latin American music and dance, as well as storytelling, face painting and mask making for childrern. Throughout the day, weather permitting, live alpacas will greet visitors entering the museum. Talks and tours will also be featured.
