A salute to service
Madeline Albright, former U.S. secretary of state -- pictured here with Law School Dean Harold Hongju Koh -- presented the annual Samuel Heyman Lecture at the Law School on March 21. In her talk, titled "Public Service in the Age of Globalization," Albright discussed the difficulty of breaking "the glass ceiling" (she was the first woman to serve as secretary of state) and other challenges in her career. She also urged Yale students not to give up their dreams of political leadership in the face of pressures to earn high wages, saying "I urge you to see public service as a means of self-fulfillment and not self-denial."
