'Trouble in Tahiti' to be performed
during School of Music alumni weekend

It will be back to suburbia for the Yale Opera singers when they reprise their performance of Leonard Bernstein's "Trouble in Tahiti" on Sunday, June 3.

The semi-staged version of the 1951 operetta about a suburban couple whose marriage is in trouble will be presented at 8 p.m. in Morse Recital Hall of Sprague Memorial Hall, 470 College St. Admission is free, and the public is welcome.

Originally staged by Yale Opera on April 8, "Trouble in Tahiti" is a satirical commentary on the banality of American middle-class suburban life that combines lyric poetry, pop culture and social commentary.

The performance will again feature all graduate-level Yale Opera vocal artists, including Abigail Nims as Dinah, Eric Downs as Sam, and a trio comprised of Katherine Maroney, Matthew Plenk and Diego Matamoros. Marc Verzatt is the stage director and Douglas Dickson is pianist and music director. The artistic director of Yale Opera is Doris Yarick Cross. This performance is part of the School of Music's 2006 alumni weekend.

For more information, visit www.yale.edu/music or call the School of Music concert office at (203) 432-4158.
