Edward Kaplan has been designated as an INFORMS fellow
Edward H. Kaplan, the William N. and Marie A. Beach Professor of Management Sciences at the School of Management and professor of public health at the School of Medicine, has been named a fellow of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS).
The award will be presented during a ceremony at the INFORMS annual meeting on Nov. 14 in San Francisco.
The fellow awards recognize INFORMS members who have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of operations research and the management sciences.
Kaplan is an operations research and statistics expert who studies problems in public policy and management. His recent research has focused on counterterror topics such as the tactical prevention of suicide bombings, bioterror preparedness, and response logistics in the event of a smallpox or anthrax attack.
