Book awards benefit area high school
students and their school libraries

Thirty-eight local high school seniors received the Yale Club/Seton Book Award, presented by the Yale Club of New Haven, at a ceremony held at Yale's Davenport College in October.

The program included a discussion of life at Yale with current upperclassmen as panelists; a question-and-answer period; a tour of the campus; and lunch in the Davenport College dining hall. The event was sponsored by the Yale Club of New Haven with assistance from the Yale Admissions Office and the Yale Office of New Haven and State Affairs.

The awards -- which include two books, one for the student and one for the student's school library -- were made possible by a gift from the late Yale alumnus Fenmore R. Seton '38 and his wife, Phyllis Z. Seton. They are awarded annually to high school students chosen by their schools at the end of junior year for their outstanding personal character and intellectual promise.
