Important message to those traveling during spring break All members of the Yale community who are traveling outside of the United States over spring break are asked to take a few minutes to complete the emergency travel and contact form at http://world.yale.edu/travelform. The information provided will be used by the Office of the Secretary to reach them in the event of an emergency. "Anyone who follows international news is well aware that natural disasters and civil unrest can strike any day and any place," said Vice President and Secretary Linda Koch Lorimer in a message to the community. "We all hope that everyone will be safe, but with Yale students, faculty and staff traveling in cities across the world for research, language study and more, as well as traveling with the band and singing groups, there is the possibility that some could encounter troubles. "If something does occur," says Lorimer, "we will do our best to contact you quickly to ensure that everyone is safe or, if necessary, coordinate a response. When hostilities broke out in Beirut last summer, this information was critical to our efforts to locate students." Individuals may include information on as many cities as they will be visiting. And they can update or change the information later as their plans change. The site is password protected, so users will need to log in using their NetID. MEDEX provides 24/7 travel assistance coverage any time Yale students, faculty or staff are traveling. MEDEX cards can be printed out at www.yale.edu/riskmanagement/programs/medex. Other travel resources are available on the Yale and the World website: http://world.yale.edu/abroad/travel_resources.html.
