Yale Police adds 10 new officers to its force
The Yale University Police Department will be adding 10 new officers to the force, Chief Jim Perrotti announced.
On March 26, Jennifer Garcia, Becky Fowler, Roberto Arango, Michael Hall and Thomas Nguyen-Phuoc entered the Connecticut Police Academy located in Meriden for a 22-week Basic Training Program. They will be educated in all aspects of police work including such areas as laws of arrest; search and seizure; use of force; defensive tactics; firearms; juvenile matters; and sexual assault. After successful completion of the academy they will be assigned to the Patrol Division where they will complete a 10-week Field Training Program.
In addition, Officers Marni Robbins and Michael Dominique recently graduated from the academy and started their Field Training Program.
The University Police Department has also added three certified police officers to its ranks, who have between them over 60 years of experience in the law enforcement field. Officers Brian T. Donnelly and Andres Diaz have been involved in policing in the city of New Haven for years. Diaz was assigned to the Connecticut State Police Auto Theft Task Force, and Donnelly was a longtime bicycle beat cop with the New Haven Police, assigned to the Newhallville District. The third officer, William Csontos, spent the last 20 years as a trooper with the Connecticut State Police. There, he trained other officers and their police canines.
