Program to present awards for work related to women or gender studies
The Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies Program is accepting applications for three awards.
The Lily Rosen Prize in Women's Health is awarded annually to an undergraduate in Yale College for the best essay that contributes to knowledge about women's health. The essay may be in any field of the humanities or the social, physical or natural sciences and may deal with any aspect of or issue in women's physical or mental health.
The Steere Prize in Women's Studies is awarded annually for the senior essay that best exemplifies advance in scholarship gained by focusing on women or gender roles and/or by employing feminist theory. Senior essays written by majors in any department as well as by Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies majors are eligible.
The Elga Ruth Wasserman Award is given annually to a Yale undergraduate for a summer project, whether academic or activist, on women, gender or a related topic.
Three copies of essays or proposals should be submitted to Rm. 315, Willliam L. Harkness Hall, 100 Wall St., by Tuesday, May 1. Applicants should include their name, address, phone number, UPI number, major department, advisor and college. Essays do not need to be nominated; they may be submitted by students themselves.
