Kastritsis to present lecture on 'The Ottoman Empire and the Greeks' in NYC

The Hellenic Studies Program will co-sponsor a talk by Dimitris Kastritsis, lecturer in European studies and history, in New York City on Tuesday, May 1.

The lecture, titled "The Ottoman Empire and the Greeks: A Reassessment," will begin at 7 p.m. in the Archdiocesan Cathedral of Holy Trinity, 319-337 East 74th Street.

Other sponsors include the Hellenic-American Chamber of Commerce, the Cultural Committee of the Archdiocesan Cathedral of Holy Trinity and the Hellenic Medical Society of New York City.


YUWO hosts talk by attorney about elder needs

The Yale University Women's Organization (YUWO) will host a talk by attorney Kate McEvoy on Wednesday, May 2, at the New Haven Country Club, 160 Hartford Turnpike, in Hamden.

McEvoy's talk, "Issues Bearing on Elder Needs and the Law," will begin at 11:30 a.m. It is open to the Yale community only. The admission fee is $25. For more information, call (203) 288-9810.


Lacrosse player Lauren Taylor wins honor

Lauren Taylor , a junior midfielder, has been named third team pre-season All-America by Inside Lacrosse magazine.

Last season Taylor led the Ivy League in goals with 45 and had a Yale-best 53 points. She was named first team All-Ivy and second team IWLCA Northeast All-Regional. As a freshman, Taylor was named third team All-American and first team All-Ivy.
