Creating a tranquil space for nursing mothers

A popular service for new mothers working at Yale School of Medicine will be expanded when a second breast-pumping space opens in the Anlyan Center on June 1.

A similar space, designed to provide a tranquil environment where women can pump breast milk, is already located in the Sterling Hall of Medicine, C-Wing, E level, Rm. L0007 (located behind the mailroom).

Known as the "Mother's Room," the space, which can be reserved for half-hour or hour intervals, is set up to accommodate two mothers at a time. It is equipped with comfortable furniture, running water, a refrigerator and updated material concerning nursing mothers.

The popularity of the service is reflected in the fact that the room is currently used over 350 times a month.
