Boris Albers (left), a graduate student in mechanical engineering, talks with NEC Corporation chair Hajime Sasaki about work going on in the laboratory of Professor Udo Schwarz in the Malone Center. During his campus visit on Oct. 4, Sasaki was honored with the Faculty of Engineering's Sheffield Medal. He also gave a public address in which he spoke about changes in lifestyles brought about by real-time communication and challenged the engineering faculty to look to data mining for creating the next generation of tools.
