Winter clothing program

An information program on "Surviving a New England Winter" will take place on Thursday, Oct. 26, at the International Center for Students and Scholars, 421 Temple St.

The program is part of a multi-office effort directed toward international students and scholars. Members of the University community are invited to donate "gently used" winter apparel, such as coats, scarves, hats and gloves.

The program will include a "Cold Clinic" by University Health Services which will offer tips about cold care prevention.

Members of the community who wish to make a donation may do so before Wednesday, Oct. 25, at the International Center (Monday to Friday until 9 p.m.) or at the McDougal Center, 320 York Street.

Breast cancer fundraiser

A promotion at the Tanger Outlet Center in Westbrook will raise funds to benefit the Yale-New Haven Breast Cancer Center.

Tanger will donate 10% of the value of each gift card purchased to the Cancer Center. Cards cost $2 and entitle shoppers to receive three discount offers of 10%, 15% and 20% at participating Tanger stores . The cards are available at the Customer Service Center. The promotion will run through Oct. 31. For more information, visit www.tangeroutlet.com.

Volunteer mentors sought for students participating in city science fair

Volunteers are sought to act as New Haven Science Fair mentors.

Volunteers donate one hour per week through February to mentor a New Haven kindergartener to 12th grader working on a project. The projects will be exhibited at the New Haven Science Fair in Yale Commons in March. Mentors receive ongoing guidance from an experienced mentor coordinator.

Last year more than 70 mentors from Yale and other organizations participated. To volunteer, visit www.nhsciencefair.org.
