Posters showcase work on women and gender

An outdoor poster session highlighting the research, advocacy and discussions taking place on campus by women and covering the topic of women and gender will take place Tuesday-Thursday, Nov. 7-9, on the Beinecke Plaza, corner of Wall and High streets.

Titled "Women, Gender and Yale: NOT your ordinary poster session," the event will feature posters by students and faculty members that collectively offer a visual display of the work on gender and women that happens across the disciplines at Yale. Posters will feature research and social activism and will address the topic of how gender and women's issues matter in such work. The poster session is sponsored by the Women Faculty Forum at Yale.

Following the display on Beinecke Plaza, the posters will then tour campus libraries through January before being displayed for a month at the Whitney and Betty MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies at Yale.

Individuals who are interested in submitting posters can do so before Nov. 3. Posters should be e-mailed to wff@yale.edu. Submissions must be accompanied by a short abstract explaining how gender matters to the submitter's research, teaching or activism. Posters must be in two-dimensional form in document size 8.5" x 11" to 11" x 17". They will be laminated for preservation during the outdoor display.

The Women's Faculty Forum will also host an interdisciplinary roundtable on the topic "Gender as an Analytic Category, a Disciplinary Location and a Structuring Factor of Our Workplaces" on Monday, Nov. 6, 6:30-8:30 p.m. in Rm. 208 of the Whitney Humanities Center, 53 Wall St. A reception will follow the free event.
