Children’s art calendar

The 28th annual Yale Community Children’s Art Calendar is now available.

The calendar features artwork by the children of Calvin Hill Day Care Center and the Kitty Lustman-Findling Kindergarten. It is underwritten by donations from area merchants, parents, alumni and others. Proceeds from the calendar support the sliding tuition scale at the center, which provides affordable, high quality care to more than 60 children of Yale and community families.

The calendar is available for $10 at the Yale Bookstore, DAVA in Hamden or directly through the Calvin Hill Day Care Center at 150 Highland St.

For more information or to request an application for enrollment for 2008-2009, contact Carla Horwitz at (203) 764-9350 or carla.horwitz@yale.edu.

Griswold research fund

Applications are now being accepted for A. Whitney Griswold Faculty Research Fund awards.

The fund was established to help faculty members undertake research in the humanities. The award is for the projected research of full-time faculty members on continuing appointment in any department or division of the University. Preference is given to first-time applicants and to applicants who do not have other current research grants at Yale.

Funding of up to $2,500 per academic year may be sought for purposes such as travel to inspect primary-source materials; acquisition of inaccessible books or visual materials, which would later be transferred to a University library; or assistance with research. At the conclusion of the grant, recipients must submit a brief summary of research conducted under the auspices of the grant. The award is not intended for reimbursement of expenses already incurred.

Faculty members requesting amounts over $1,000 should also apply to other sources of support.

The deadline to submit applications, along with supporting materials, is Feb. 1. Applications are available online at www.yale.edu/whc. For more information, call (203) 432-6556.

All materials should be sent to the Chair, Griswold Fund Committee, Whitney Humanities Center, 53 Wall St., P.O. Box 208298, New Haven, CT 06520-8298.
