Longtime professor Stanton Wheeler dies on Dec. 7
At press time, the Yale Bulletin & Calendar learned of the death of Stanton Wheeler, the Ford Foundation Professor
Emeritus of Law and the Social Sciences and professorial lecturer in the
Law School.
Wheeler passed away on Dec. 7 from complications related to a cardiovascular
condition. He was 77 years old.
A member of the Yale faculty since 1968, Wheeler was one of the founders of
the field of sociology of law. He and his wife, Marcia Chambers, served as
master and associate master, respectively, of the Morse College community 1995-2001.
A full obituary in his honor will appear in the next edition of the Yale Bulletin & Calendar.
