‘21st Century Democracy’ is the
theme of Law School reunions

The Yale Law School Alumni Reunion, which this year focuses on the theme “21st Century Democracy: Elections, Media, Politics,” will take place Friday-Sunday, Oct. 12-14.

The weekend will feature panel discusssions, which are free and open to the public, as well as a slate of events designed specifically for alumni, including luncheons, tours, a discussion with Dean Harold Hongju Koh and the presentation of the Yale Law School Alumni Award of Merit to Linda Greenhouse ’78 M.S.L., Supreme Court correspondent for The New York Times.

The panel discussions on Friday and Saturday are designed to provide a fresh opportunity, as the 2008 presidential election approaches, to understand how 21st-century democracy grapples with such issues as race, elections, the growing gap between rich and poor, and the uses of new media.

On Saturday, there will be two concurrent sessions at 9:30 a.m.: “The New Tools: The Internet Influencing Democracy” in Levinson Auditorium, and “Race, Politics and the Voting Rights Act” in Rm. 127. These will be followed at 11 a.m. with two more concurrent panels: “The Media Covering Elections: Heroes or Villains?” in Levinson Auditorium and “Money and Politics” in Rm. 127.
