Recyling initiative
As part of the ongoing effort to become a more “sustainable campus,” the
Facilities Operations department is seeking to increase the University’s
overall recycling of solid waste to 40% from the current rate of 18%.
In support of this goal, Custodial Services will begin providing frequent removal
of recyclable paper products from the “desk-side.” Community members
should support this effort by utilizing new office mixed-paper receptacles, which
will be provided, to recycle virtually all forms of paper. These include white
paper, colored paper, glossy paper, newspaper, thin cardboard, paper bags, envelopes
with windows, manila folders, sticky notes, books and shredded paper. Staples
may be left in paper to be recycled.
Graduate Music Symposium
The Department of Music is accepting applications for paper presentations at
its first Yale Graduate Music Symposium (YGMS) to be held Saturday and Sunday,
March 22-23.
The YGMS will consist of paper presentations, a special concert on Saturday followed
by a discussion workshop to be led by James Hepokoski, professor of music history,
on Sunday.
Proposals in any area of music scholarship are invited, including, but not limited
to, musicology, music theory and ethnomusicology. Papers should last no longer
than 20 minutes; each presentation will be followed by a 10-minute period for
questions and comments.
All proposals must be submitted electronically and will be reviewed anonymously.
Each submission must comprise:
(1) An e-mail sent to ygms@yale.edu with “YGMS Abstract Submission” in
the subject field; the author’s name, email address, telephone number and
academic affiliation; and a list of any audio-visual requirements.
(2) A Microsoft Word or PDF attachment that contains only the title of the paper
and an abstract of no more than 250 words, suitable for publication in the program.
All submissions must be received no later than Dec. 1. For more information,
send e-mail to clare.eng@yale.edu.
