Student wins healthcare management scholarship
Madhuri Murthy, a master of public health candidate in the Health Management
Program, was awarded the 2007 Connecticut Women in Healthcare Management Scholarship
on Sept. 26.
The scholarship is given by the Connecticut Women in Healthcare Management (CWHCM),
the largest professional women’s organization in Connecticut. CWHCM is
dedicated to promoting career growth, professional and personal development,
and providing networking and educational opportunities. The award recognizes
a woman who “demonstrates a commitment to a career in health management.”
Murthy is interested in pursuing a medical career and plans to incorporate her
studies of hospital administration. She recently served as a management intern
at the University of Chicago. She has also volunteered at Rush Medical Center
in Chicago and Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
