Panelists to discuss China's
changing political scene

"Political Reform in China" will be the topic of a panel discussion being hosted on Friday, Feb. 5, by the Asian Law Forum.

Four Chinese social scientists who both teach in the United States and are prominent participants in intellectual debates in the People's Republic of China will discuss such issues as the expansion of legislative institutions, the legitimacy of the Communist Party, constitutional guarantees of political participation and the problems of social justice.

Among the participants will be Cui Zhiyuan, a leading advocate of socialist experimentation, and Wang Xi, author of "The Trial of Democ- racy: Black Suffrage and Northern Republicans, 1860-1910." Professor Shaoguang Wang of Yale's political science department will moderate the discussion.

The event will be held 3-5:30 p.m. in Rm. 129 of the Law School, 127 Wall St. A reception will follow in the faculty lounge. The event is free and open to the public.
