Edith Wharton biographer to
explore her subject's 'French Ways'

A talk by Hermione Lee, the Goldsmiths' Professor of English Literature at Oxford University, which was originally scheduled to take place on Sept. 20, has been rescheduled.

Lee's lecture, titled "Edith Wharton's French Ways," will now be presented on Tuesday, Dec. 4, at 4 p.m. in Rm. 101 of Linsly-Chittenden Hall, 63 High St. Sponsored by the Department of English, the event is free and open to the public.

The author of "Willa Cather: A Life Saved Up," "Philip Roth," "Elizabeth Bowen: An Estimation" and the acclaimed biography "Virginia Woolf," Lee is currently working on a biography of Edith Warton. She previously visited the Yale campus in 1999 as a Donald Gallup Visiting Fellow and again in 2001 as a visiting professor of a master class at the Beinecke Library.
