Children's art calendar

The 22nd annual Yale Community Children's Art Calendar is now available.

The calendar features artwork by the children of Calvin Hill Day Care Center and the Kitty Lustman-Findling Kindergarten. It is underwritten by donations from area merchants, parents, alumni and others. Proceeds from the calendar support the sliding tuition scale at the center, which provides affordable, high quality care to more than 60 children of Yale and community families.

The calendar is available for $10 at the Yale Bookstore and the Yale Medical Bookstore, or directly through the Calvin Hill Center at 150 Highland St. For more information or to request an application for enrollment for 2002-2003, call director Carla Horwitz at (203) 764-9350.

Child Conduct Clinic

The Yale Child Conduct Clinic is currently accepting children between the ages of 2 and 131Ž2 who are displaying behavioral problems such as lying, disobeying parents, swearing, cheating, not getting along with others and getting into trouble at school. For more information, call (203) 432-9993.

Recycling books

The Recycling Department has issued a notice about recycling hardcover and softcover books.

Individuals who have hardcover books to recycle may contact the department which will arrange for them to be picked up. Advance notice should be given if there are a large number of books to be recycled. The department will supply carts that can be filled with books for eventual pick-up.

Softcover books, including Yale Directories, can be recycled in the office paper bins already in place in campus buildings. Individuals who have a large amount of softcover books should request an office paper cart to avoid overloading their recycling bins.

When new SNET telephone directories are delivered in December and January, old directories should be placed next to office paper "highboys" rather than inside them, or inside office paper recycling carts.

For more information, call (203) 432-6852 or visit the website at www.yale.edu/recycling.

RIS open house

Reprographics & Imaging Services (RIS) will conduct tours of its facilities on Thursday, Jan. 10, 9 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m.

The event will begin at RIS headquarters, 155 Whitney Ave., with tours of such departments as art and graphic design, the print shop, finishing and bindery, mail services, and scanning and imaging. Visitors will also have the opportunity to see the state-of-the-art technology in operation at the merchandise studio and the press room.

Pre-registration is suggested and may be done at www.yale.edu/ris/openhouse or by sending e-mail to YaleRIS@yale.edu. Refreshments will be served, small gifts given and a raffle prize awarded.
