Yale University has announced that all varsity athletic events scheduled this week through Sunday have been canceled due to the national tragedy.

The Bulldogs are ranked seventh in the nation in the preseason WCCCA poll.

This Week: Sept. 12 vs. Rhode Island, 4 p.m., Johnson Field

Sept. 15 at Princeton, 12:30 p.m.

Senior Caroline Thompson (Chestnut Hill, MA) scored the game-winning goal in the victory over Vermont.


Football (0 - 0, 0 - 0 Ivy)

This Week: Sept. 15 at Towson, 1 p.m.

The Bulldogs were picked fifth in the Ivy League preseason media poll.

Yale football games will be televised on the New England Sports Network a minimum of three times this fall. Road games against Holy Cross on Sept. 29, Pennsylvania on Oct. 20 and Columbia on Oct. 27 are part of the ECAC Game of the Week package. There also is the possibility that the games at Princeton on Nov. 10 and the home game against Harvard on Nov. 17 will be added.

Freshman Lindsey Williams (Columbus, OH) scored both Yale goals against Harvard.

The Bulldogs' schedule includes four games against teams that were ranked in the Sept. 5 NSCAA top 25. St. John's is third, defending NCAA champion Connecticut is seventh, UAB is 17th and Brown is 22nd.

Junior Ali Cobbett (Wallingford, CT) scored five goals in Yale's first two games. Against Sacred Heart, she notched her first career hat trick, and against Ohio, she had two goals and an assist.

Junior Lindsay Sabel (Danbury, CT) improved her career record in goal to 7 - 0 with victories in the first two games.

Senior Carissa Abbott (Encino, CA) was named the most valuable player of the Yale Invitational. Freshman Jana Freeman (Long Beach, CA) was named to the all-tournament team.
