For the second year in a row, sophomore Sada Jacobson brought home the gold medal in the sabre from the NCAA Championships.

Junior Steve Duke (Bayside, NY) is hitting .500 (8 for 16) in his last four games.

Junior Justin Walters (Pensacola, FL) hit Yale's first home run of the season in the second game against Pace.


Men's Basketball (21-11, 11-3 Ivy)

The crowd of 9,847 at the New Haven Coliseum for the second round NIT game was the largest ever for a Yale home game.

Freshman Alex Gamboa (Reno, NV), who led the team in assists (96) and was second in scoring (10.7 ppg.), became the fifth Yale player to be named Ivy League Rookie of the Year. Sophomore Paul Vitelli (Morristown, NJ) was a second team All-Ivy selection, and junior T.J. McHugh (Cleveland, OH) was honorable mention.


Women's Basketball (14-13, 7-7 Ivy)

Season Complete

Two Yale Women's basketball players, senior Meg Simpson (Marietta, GA) and junior Helene Schutrumpf (Boulder, CO), earned second team All-Ivy honors. Simpson led the Bulldogs in rebounding (9.2 rpg.) and was fourth in scoring (8.2 ppg.). Schutrumpf led Yale in scoring (10.9 ppg.). In addition, freshman Lindsay Page (Multikeo, WA) was named to the All Rookie team. Page was second on the team in scoring (9.2 rpg.).


Men's Fencing (7-6, 4-1 Ivy)

Last Week: March 21-24 -- t-6th at NCAA Championships (92 pts)

This Week: Season Complete

Sophomore Byron Igoe (New York, NY) had Yale's top performance at the NCAA Championship. He placed 15th in the sabre.


Women's Fencing (12-2, 6-0 Ivy)

Sophomore Sada Jacobson (Atlanta, GA) won the gold medal in the sabre for the second straight year at the NCAA Championship. Jacobson defeated Ohio State's Louise Bond-Williams 15-9 in the championship bout.


Gymnastics (2-2, 1-0 Ivy)

Last Week: March 23 -- 2nd at ECAC Championship (193.375)

This Week: April 6 at NCAA Regionals

Yale had three individual champions at the ECAC meet. Freshman Christine Lacy (Tomball, TX) captured the vault with a 9.8, sophomore Andrea Wolf (Seattle, WA) tied for the bars crown (9.825) and sophomore Jamie Green (Los Angeles, CA) tied for first in the floor exercise (9.875).


Men's Ice Hockey (10-17-2, 9-11-2 ECAC)

Season Complete

Freshman Chris Higgins (Smithtown, NY) was named the ECAC Rookie of the Year. Higgins had 27 points in 22 league games, 11 more than any other freshman.


Men's Lacrosse (3-1, 1-1 Ivy)

Last Week: March 23 -- Cornell 8, Yale 4

This Week: March 30 at Princeton, 3 p.m.

Seniors Blake Beachler (Pittsburgh, PA) and Tucker Foote (Alexandria, VA), sophomore Edward Britt (Summit, NJ) and freshman Seth Goldberg (Syracuse, NY) all scored against Cornell.


Women's Lacrosse (4-1, 2-0 Ivy)

Last Week: March 23 -- Yale 9, Dartmouth 6

This Week: March 27 at Boston University, 3 p.m.; March 30 vs. Harvard, 1 p.m., Johnson Field

Junior Sarah Queener (Penn Yan, NY) had two goals and two assists in the victory over Dartmouth.


Softball (11-9, 0-0 Ivy)

Last Week: March 18 -- Yale 5, Vermont 2; Lipscomb 3, Yale 1; March 19 -- Yale 8, Colgate 0; Yale 6, Wisconsin-Green Bay 4; March 23 -- Fairfield 3, Yale 2; Yale 2, Fairfield 1

Junior Jesseka Bartholomew (Lake Forest, CA) leads the team in batting (.391), hits (27), doubles (6), home runs (4) and RBI (18).


Men's Swimming (14-1, 6-1 Ivy)

This Week: March 28-30 at NCAA Championships

Senior Mike Schulte (Wellesley, MA) is the lone member of the Bulldogs competing at the March 29-31 NCAA Championship at the University of Georgia. Schulte will swim the 500 and 1650 events.


Women's Swimming (12-1, 6-1 Ivy)

This Week: March 15-16 at Zone Diving Championships

Yale had three swimmers compete at the NCAA Championships but none advanced to the finals. Junior Bates Gregory (Duxbury, MA) and freshman Melanie Loftus (McLean, VA) qualified in the diving, and junior Susan Cooke (Vero Beach, FL) competed in the 200 and 400 individual medleys.


Men's Tennis (12-5, 0-0 Ivy)

Last Week: Spring Break trip to California

This Week: March 30 at Navy, 2 p.m.

Junior Steve Berke (N. Miami, FL) is ranked 42nd in the latest Division I poll.


Women's Tennis (10-3, 0-0 Ivy)

Next: April 5 vs. Pennsylvania, 2:30 p.m.

Yale is ranked 57th in the latest Division I poll.


Men's Outdoor Track (0-0, 0-0 Ivy)

Last Week: March 22-23 -- 5th at Spring Break Invitational (157.5 pts)

This Week: March 29-30 at Raleigh Relays

Senior Thomas Hocker (San Jose, CA) was a double winner at the Spring Break meet, capturing the 110 (14.78) and the 400 (52.66) hurdles.


Women's Outdoor Track (0-0, 0-0 Ivy)

Last Week: March 22-23 -- 4th at Spring Break Invitational (76 pts)

This Week: March 29-30 at Raleigh Relays

Junior Rebecca Rauth (Los Angeles, CA) placed third in the 100 hurdles with a time of 15.90. Sophomore Rebecca Hunter (Florence, MA) was third in the 3,000 run (10:08.19).
