Chris Elkins '03 of Tampa, Florida, is one of two Yale baseball players who, at press time, were in the midst of a 10-game hitting streak. The other is C.J. Orrico '05 of Southbury, Connecticut. The Bulldogs went on the road on April 16 for a game against Sacred Heart.





Baseball (8-17, 3-5 Ivy)

Last Week: April 10 -- Iona 8, Yale 2; April 13 -- Cornell 5, Yale 1 and Yale 9, Cornell 3; April 14 -- Yale 8, Princeton 1 and Princeton 6, Yale 3

This Week: April 16 at Sacred Heart, 3:30 p.m.

Junior Chris Elkins (Tampa, FL) and freshman C.J. Orrico (Southbury, CT) both have 10-game hitting streaks. Elkins leads the team in batting (.372), hits (35) and triples (2).

Senior Craig Breslow (Trumbull, CT) pitched a complete-game, five-hitter in the victory over Princeton. He struck out seven and did not allow an earned run. Breslow leads the staff in ERA (1.67) and strikeouts (34).


Heavyweight Crew (0-1, 0-1 Ivy)

Last Week: April 13 -- Dartmouth 5:47.8, Yale 5:53.3

This Week: April 20 vs. Penn/Columbia, 9 a.m., Gilder Boathouse

Yale won the junior varsity, first freshman and second freshman races.


Lightweight Crew (2-0, 0-0 Ivy)

Last Week: April 13 -- Yale 5:46.4, Georgetown 5:57.8

This Week: April 20 vs. Penn/Columbia, 9 a.m., Gilder Boathouse

Yale won all four races against Georgetown.


Women's Crew (6-0, 4-0 Ivy)

Last Week: April 13 -- Yale 7:30.7, Boston Univ. 7:43.8, Dartmouth 8:03.0

This Week: April 20 at Princeton

Yale also won 2nd varsity and novice races.


Men's Golf (0-0, 0-0 Ivy)

Last Week: April 13-14 -- 4th at New England Championships (611)

This Week: April 19-21 at Ivy League Championships

Freshman Steve Gray (Lee's Summit, MO) was Yale's medalist at the New England Championship. He finished sixth with a two-round score of 150.


Women's Golf (0-0, 0-0 Ivy)

Last Week: April 13-14 -- 4th at Lady Dukes Invitational

This Week: April 19-21 at Ivy League Championships

Senior Sarah Seo (Lima, OH) tied for second at the Lady Dukes Invitational. She shot a two-round score of 150. Freshman Anna Jepson (Hasselby, Sweden) was 11th with a 155.


Men's Lacrosse (6-3, 2-2 Ivy)

Last Week: April 10 -- Yale 13, Albany 7; April 13 -- Yale 11, Massachusetts 9

This Week: April 17 at Dartmouth, 3 p.m.; April 20 vs. Harvard, 7 p.m., Johnson Field

Junior Mike Scaglione (Huntington, NY) tied a career high with six goals against Albany and added three goals in the victory over eighth-ranked Massachusetts.


Women's Lacrosse (9-3, 4-1 Ivy)

Last Week: April 10 -- Yale 18, Columbia 4; April 13 -- Yale 13, Duke 12; April 14 -- Notre Dame 11, Yale 8

This Week: April 17 vs. Brown, 3 p.m., Johnson Field; April 20 at Cornell, 1 p.m.

Freshman Katherine Sargent (Unionville, PA) had eight goals and one assist in Yale's three games.


Softball (17-15-1, 4-4 Ivy)

Last Week: April 10 -- Marist 3, Yale 2 and Marist 2, Yale 1; April 13 -- Yale 3, Columbia 0 and Yale 3, Columbia 2; April 14 -- Cornell 2, Yale 0 and Yale 9, Cornell 4

This Week: April 17 at Connecticut (DH), 3 p.m.; April 20 at Princeton (DH), 1 p.m.; April 21 at Pennsylvania (DH), noon

Junior Cara Denver (Vancouver, WA) went 2-0 with a 0.37 ERA in three appearances. Against Columbia she tossed a complete-game, four-hit shutout with eight strikeouts. Against Cornell she pitched her team-high 12th complete game and did not allow an earned run. It was her seventh victory of the season.

Freshman Jordan Chapman (Plymouth, MI) won the high jump at the Columbia Invitational with a leap of 1.93 meters. Sophomore Derin Bray (Dallstown, PA) was second with a leap of 1.88 meters.


Women's Outdoor Track (0-0, 0-0 Ivy)

This Week: April 20 vs. Harvard, noon, Dewitt-Cuyler Track

Senior Sikira Backus (Princeton, NJ) was a double winner against Penn and Princeton. She won the 100 dash in 12.29 seconds and the 200 dash in 25.10.
