The Middle East Council at the Yale Center for International and Area Studies (YCIAS) and the Yale Divinity School will cohost a conference on "Apocalypse and Violence: Historical and Contemporary Perspectives" on Sunday, May 5.
The event will be held 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Divinity School's Niebuhr Hall, 409 Prospect St. It is free and open to the public.
The conference will explore the relationships between apocalypse and violence in Judaism, Christianity and Islam. It will include papers and a panel discussion reflecting on the relevance of these traditions today.
Featured speakers will include leading scholars from Yale, the University of Oxford, Georgetown University, the University of Chicago, the University of Notre Dame and Bar Ilan University.
YCIAS is Yale's principal agency for encouraging and coordinating teaching and research on international affairs, societies and cultures. The center seeks to make understanding the world an integral part of the liberal education and professional training at the University.
