The Yale Collegium Musicum, under the direction of Richard Lalli, will present a program titled "Music in Germany ca. 1502" on Wednesday, May 1, at 5 p.m. in the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library, corner of Wall and High streets.
The concert, which is free and open to the public, will feature music that might have been heard in German-speaking countries near the turn of the 16th century, as well as six new pieces based upon musical material of that time. In addition to the usual collegium instruments, the concert will feature a jazz combo, a Klezmer ensemble, electric guitar, bass clarinet and gongs.
Featured composers/arrangers will be Matthew Suttor, Lainie Fefferman, Francine Trester, Sean McClowry, David Stovall and Craig Harwood.
The event is sponsored by Friends of Music at Yale, the Department of Music and the Beinecke Library.
