Celebrating Earth Day
In celebration of Earth Day (April 22), the Yale Recycling Department set up an information table on Cross Campus, where Courtney Costas '02 of Davenport College, Madeleine Meek '04 of Silliman College and John Favier '02 of the Divinity School offered passers-by food, drink and bumper stickers as they reminded them about the importance of saving the environment.
Also in conjunction with Earth Day, Yale Recycling sponsored a "Clean Out Your Files" week-long program, offering campus offices advice about how to recycle their unwanted goods, as well as special carts to do so. The Saturday before Earth Day, volunteers from the University and the Greater New Haven area took part in a clean-up of New Haven Harbor spearheaded by the Peabody Museum of Natural History in conjunction with the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies and the Quinnipiac River Watershed Association.
