The Eli field hockey team beat Rhode Island 2-0, thanks to two goals scored by sophomore Jana Halfon. This week, the Elis take on Sacred Heart on Oct. 3 and Dartmouth on Oct. 6.





Men's Cross Country (0-0, 0-0 Ivy)

Last Week: Sept. 28 -- 2nd at Connecticut Intercollegiates (43 pts.)

This Week: Oct. 6 vs. Harvard, Yale Golf Course

Sophomore Robert Dwyer (Winsted, CT) placed second at the Connecticut Intercollegiate with a time of 25:52.4. Sophomore William Starks (Louisville, KY) was fifth (26:46.3).


Women's Cross Country (0-0, 0-0 Ivy)

Last Week: Sept. 28 -- 2nd at Connecticut Intercollegiate (38 pts.); Sept. 29 -- 4th at Iona Meet of Champions (115 pts.)

This Week: Oct. 6 at Princeton/Harvard

Freshman Melissa Wisner (Bronxville, NY) was the individual winner at the Connecticut Intercollegiate, finishing with a course record time of 19:01.7.

Junior Kate O'Neill (Milton, MA) was the Bulldogs' top finisher at the Iona Meet of Champions. She placed third with a time of 20:46.4. Junior Laura O'Neill (Milton, MA) placed 12th in 21:13.3.


Field Hockey (3-4, 0-2 Ivy)

This Week: Oct. 3 vs. Sacred Heart, 7 p.m., Johnson Field; Oct. 6 vs. Dartmouth, noon, Johnson Field

Sophomore Jana Halfon (Richmond, VA) scored both goals in the victory over Rhode Island. Sophomore Krissy Nesburg (Oak Park, IL) made four saves to post her second shutout in goal.


Football (2-0, 1-0 Ivy)

Last Week: Sept. 29 -- Yale 23, Holy Cross 22

This Week: Oct. 7 vs. Dartmouth, 1 p.m., Yale Bowl

Senior Justin Davis (Cheyenne, WY) kicked a game-winning 28-yard field goal with four seconds left in the fourth quarter.

Senior Keith Reams (Moraga, CA) had the first two touchdown receptions of his career.

Sophomore Tate Rich (Nashville, TN) recovered three fumbles.

The Bulldogs play their first-ever Sunday game when they host Dartmouth.

This Week: Oct. 6-7 at Princeton Invitational

Freshman Anna Jepson (Hasselby, Sweden) was the Bulldogs' medalist at the Nittany Lion Invitational. She tied for sixth with a three-round score of 228. Senior Jennifer Schriefer (Fort Wayne, IN) tied for 10th with a 232.


Men's Soccer (3-1-2, 0-1-1 Ivy)

Last Week: Sept. 26 -- Hartford 2, Yale 2

Sept. 29 -- Cornell 0, Yale 0

This Week: Oct. 3 at Quinnipiac, 4 p.m.

Oct. 6 vs. Dartmouth, 4 p.m., Soccer-Lacrosse Stadium

Yale's top three scorers are all freshmen. Andrew Dealy (Pittsburgh, PA) leads the team with seven points (3 goals, 1 assist). Lindsey Williams (Columbus, OH) is second with six points (3 goals), followed by Ryan Raybould (Leawood, KS) with three points (1 goal, 1 assist).


Women's Soccer (3-3, 0-2 Ivy)

Last Week: Sept. 25 -- Army 2, Yale 1; Sept. 29 -- Harvard 1, Yale 0 (2 ot)

This Week: Oct. 2 at Hartford, 7 p.m.; Oct. 6 vs. Dartmouth, noon, Soccer-Lacrosse Stadium

Junior Ali Cobbett (Wallingford, CT) was ranked second in the nation in points per game (3.75) and goals per game (1.75) in the Sept. 25 NCAA statistics. Cobbett leads the team in scoring with 15 points (7 goals, 1 assist).

Freshman Erin Ruck (Menlo Park, CA) scored her first career goal against Army.


Men's Tennis

Last Week: Sept. 29-30 -- Yale Invitational

This Week: Oct. 5-7 at ECAC Championships

The Bulldogs had two individual winners at the Yale Invitational. Freshman Ryan Murphy (Houston, TX) captured the A flight by beating Connecticut's Mike Furman 6-2, 6-4 in the final. The D flight was an all-Yale final as freshman Andrew Arons (Dix Hills, NY) topped sophomore Neil Tolaney (Arcadia, CA) 7-5, 6-2.


Women's Tennis

Last Week: Sept. 28-30 -- Cissie Leary Invitational

Next: Oct. 12-14 at ECAC Championships

Junior Biffy Kaufman (La Jolla, CA) advanced to the round of 16 at the Cissie Leary Invitational before losing to the top seed. Senior Andrea Goldberg (Albuquerque, NM) won the consolation singles.


Volleyball (5-3, 0-1 Ivy)

This Week: Oct. 5 at Brown, 5:30 p.m.

Oct. 6 vs. Texas A & M, Corpus Christi, 10 a.m.; vs. St. Peter's, 3 p.m.

Freshman Jana Freeman (Long Beach, CA) had 15 kills and 17 digs against Fairfield.
