Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, an M.F.A. candidate in his third year of the playwriting program at the School of Drama, was recently honored with the 2002 Roger L. Stevens Award from the Kennedy Center Fund for New American Plays. He received the award for his work "The Mystery Plays." The fund was created to enable development of collaborative relationships between new American playwrights and not-for-profit theatres, specifically through the creation of significant premiere productions. Grants provide the financial support needed to mount high-caliber workshop productions of plays during a residency period. The award additionally carries a $2,500 stipend.

Daniel E. Rosner, professor of chemical engineering, was granted an honorary doctorate in the sciences on Nov. 28 by the Madrid-based Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia. The ceremony recognized Rosner's scholarly scientific contributions as well as his mentoring of several generations of young Spanish investigators who have come to Yale over the last three decades to study and carry out research in his High Temperature Chemical Reaction Engineering laboratory.

Three Yale affiliates have been elected as fellows of the American Psychological Association (APA) for 2003: Kathleen M. Carroll, professor of psychiatry; Gene S. Fisch, senior research scientist in the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health and at the Child Study Center; and Jeannette Ickovics, associate professor of epidemiology & public health and psychology.
