Women Faculty Forum
The Women Faculty Forum is hosting a reception on Sept. 23, 5:30-7 p.m., at the Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library to welcome new women faculty and senior administrators, and to celebrate the successes of women who have recently received tenure and women who are joining the University's senior administration.

The Yale University Women's Organization (YUWO) will host a wine- and cheese-tasting reception on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 5-7 p.m., at the President's House, 43 Hillhouse Ave.
New and prospective members of the organization are welcome to attend and sign up for activities. Membership is open to any woman who is associated with the Yale community through her own or her family's current or previous affiliation. Dues are $20 per year.
YUWO offers programs and activities such as study groups, book circles and discussion groups, "lunch & learn" lectures, social events and special interest groups. The organization also sponsors a scholarship program for members whose formal education has been interrupted or delayed.

The Yale Center for British Art will host "The Parson's Nose," a trilogy of events featuring British artists working in New York.
The series will include a screening of short films, a musical performance and a lecture. Artists include J.G. Thirlwell, Thee Majesty, Millree Hughes and Jane Gang. All events are scheduled for Wednesday evenings at 5:15 p.m., Sept. 18 through Oct. 2.

A film festival will be held on Sept. 13 and 14 that will attempt to raise awareness of the issues surrounding the September 11 terrorist attacks.
The festival, titled "Before and After: A Film Festival and Dialogue on War, Peace and September 11," is comprised of a series of documentaries that attempt to broaden individuals' perspectives on the war on terror and related global conflicts. The films examine the underlying causes and impact of terrorism and war, and places the attacks in cultural, political and socioeconomic contexts.
The festival is a project of Alternative Media Library and Resource Center, a new undergraduate organization that aims to foster non-mainstream forms of creative communication for social change.

The Peabody Museum of Natural History will hold an open house on Wednesday, Sept. 18, at 1 p.m., for individuals interested in volunteering.
Museum staff and active volunteers will be available to discuss opportunities and answer questions. Volunteer activities at the museum include teaching school groups, most notably in the Great Hall of the Dinosaurs, leading the "Highlights Tours" on weekends, monitoring the museum's Discovery Room, conducting surveys, and assisting with membership drives and special events. Volunteers are also needed in some collections and office areas. Docents who conduct guided group tours of museum exhibits will begin a training program in October and need to be available to teach some weekday mornings.
