The art of wood turning is focus of symposium

The Yale Art Gallery will hold a symposium Friday-Sunday, Sept. 20-22 in conjunction with its current exhibition "Wood Turning in North America Since 1930, on view through Dec. 1.

The event will include a keynote address, "Turning and the Geometry of Symmetry," by Jonathan L. Fairbanks of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston; sessions titled "Educators' Conversation," "Curatorial Colloquium," "Critics' Commentary" and "International Interactions"; tours of the gallery's exhibitions and bus tours of local museums; and dinners and receptions. Most of the events will take place at the Yale Art Gallery, 1111 Chapel St.
