Exhibit features work by alumnus Joshua Meyer

"Courting Incoherence: Paintings by Joshua Meyer," an exhibit featuring works by Yale College alumnus Joshua Meyer '96, will be on view through March 30 at the Joseph Slifka Center for Jewish Life at Yale, 80 Wall St.

Meyer has been quoted as saying that "great art is not about technical mastery, it is about exploration and discovery." For that reason, early on in his career he stopped using brushes and his fingers to paint, and began to use knives as a way of layering paint.

A resident of Cambridge, Massachusetts, Meyer has shown his work extensively on the East Coast and has received numerous awards and honors for his paintings.

A review of his work in The Boston Phoenix states that his paintings are "surprising and delightful ... his are ultimately sensual works, concerned more with conveying the experience of the material world."
