Peabody events

A "Source to Sound Cleanup" and a bird walk in East Rock Park are two of the events sponsored by the Peabody Museum of Natural History in May.

On Saturday, May 3, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., volunteers are sought to help in a clean-up effort in New Haven Harbor and up the Quinnipiac River. Every participant will receive a T-shirt, as well as safety instructions, gloves, garbage bags, other supplies and a picnic lunch. Volunteers should meet at the museum, located at 175 Whitney Ave., for shuttles to Criscuolo Park, the main staging area, or they may go directly to the park.

On Sunday, May 4, at 8 a.m., the annual warbler migration field trip will be held in East Rock Park with Dan Barvir, a park ranger and naturalist, and members of the New Haven Bird Club. These experts will help visitors spot the elusive warblers on their way back from southerly wintering grounds. Visitors should meet at Rice Athletic Field in East Rock Park, New Haven.

For more information about these events, call (203) 432-3776.
