There will be a memorial service on Saturday, Nov. 9, for Dr. Albert J. Solnit, the Sterling Professor Emeritus and senior research scientist at the Yale Child Study Center, who died on June 21 at age 82.
The service will take place at 2 p.m. in Battell Chapel, corner of College and Elm streets. A reception will follow at Branford College, 74 High St. For further information, call Kim Thomas at (203) 785-5759.
A world-renowned pioneer in child psychiatry, Dr. Solnit spent 54 years at Yale and served as director of the Child Study Center from 1966 to 1983. He remained active at the center even after his retirement from the Yale faculty in 1990.
He also served as commissioner of the Connecticut State Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services from 1991 through 2000 and helped form the National Center for Clinical Infant Programs in Washington, D.C.
