A memorial service will be held on Monday, Nov. 11, for artist Andrew Forge, the William Leffingwell Professor Emeritus of Painting at the School of Art, who died on Sept. 4 at age 78.
The service will take place at 3 p.m. in Battell Chapel, corner of College and Elm streets. For further information, call (203) 432-2605.
A native of Kent, England, Mr. Forge joined the Yale faculty in 1975 as dean and professor of the School of Art. He held the former post until 1983 and retired from the Yale faculty in 1994.
Professor Forge was an internationally renowned artist, whose works are part of numerous private, corporate and public collections, including the Yale University Art Gallery and the Yale Center for British Art. He was also a noted art critic and author of such books as "Degas," "Monet" and "Painting and the Whole Self."
