YUWO event
The Yale University Women's Organization (YUWO) will host a wine- and cheese-tasting reception on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 5-7 p.m., at the President's House, 43 Hillhouse Ave.
New and prospective members of the organization are welcome to attend and sign up for activities. Membership is open to any woman who is associated with the Yale community through her own or her family's current or previous affiliation. Dues are $20 per year.
YUWO offers programs and activities such as study groups, book circles and discussion groups, "lunch & learn" lectures, social events and special interest groups. The organization also sponsors a scholarship program for members of the Yale community whose formal education has been interrupted or delayed.

The annual Walk to Cure Diabetes will be held on Sunday, Sept. 21, at 9 a.m. at Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield in North Haven. Members of the University community who would like to join the Yale walk team should contact Stephanie Perry at (203) 737-2122 or send e-mail to stephanie.perry@yale.edu.
The Dandelion Market, an annual European-style open-air market, will be held on College and Chapel streets every Saturday in September, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The market features crafts, art, jewelry, baked goods, food, antiques, organic produce, flowers and herbs, as well as live entertainment and a children's activity center.
University Properties is a sponsor of the market.
The Office of Environmental Health and Safety will offer a series of training sessions in September for University employees who work with dangerous substances.
Sessions and times are as follows:
"Chemical Safety Laboratory Personnel Training," a required session for employees working with chemicals -- Sept. 16, 9:15-10:45 a.m.;
"Non-Laboratory Personnel Training," a required course for non-laboratory personnel who work in areas such as physical plant, the print shop and grounds maintenance -- Sept. 17, 1 p.m.; and
"Safe Use of Biological Safety Cabients," for employees who work with biological safety cabients -- Sept. 18, 9 a.m.
All sessions are free and will take place in the basement of 135 College St. For more information, call (203) 737-2133.
The Yale Figure Skating Club will begin its 2003-2004 season on Saturday, Sept. 27.
The club offers programs for skaters of all ages, levels and interests. Weekend sessions at Ingalls Rink include beginner hockey classes, basic skills, dance, moves-in-the-field and freestyle.
