Local 34 of the Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees International Union, which represents clerical and technical workers at Yale, and Local 35, which represents service and maintenance employees went on strike Aug. 27.
Over 66% of Yale's clerical and technical workers have chosen to work rather than to strike. About 10% of service and maintenance employees also have chosen to remain on the job.
The University's educational, research and clinical missions continue. Classes began as scheduled with over 90% of classes meeting on campus.
Yale's contract offer as well as other up-to-date information concerning the strike and the status of contract negotiations between Yale and its unions can be found at www.yale.edu/opa/labor.
