United Way of Greater New Haven is now in the match-making business, bringing together individuals who are interested in community service with the agencies that could use their assistance through its new Virtual Volunteer Center.
Through the online service (located at www.volunteersolutions.org/uwgnh/volunteer/), prospective volunteers can indicate their areas of interest and learn about the related opportunities available at area organizations.
Since being launched this summer, the Virtual Volunteer Center has matched over 940 individuals and local agencies. Currently, it lists over 160 volunteer opportunities at over 90 different organizations.
These opportunities range from working directly with children, the elderly and other populations; to providing office and administrative support; to serving on boards and planning committes; and much more.
The Virtual Volunteer Center is just one of the ways in which the United Way of Greater New Haven is working to build a better community.
