Slifka Center art exhibit

Artist Chana Cromer's show, titled "Covering Uncovering: Textiles in the Story of Joseph," has been extended through May 31 in the Allan and Leah Rabinowitz Gallery at the Joseph Slifka Center for Jewish Life at Yale, 80 Wall St.

The exhibit explores the biblical story of Joseph and his coat of many colors, and features works in a variety of media on textiles, including silk screen, etching, assemblage, appliqué and painting. Cromer's works have appeared in synagogue collections in Israel, England and Russia, in addition to the United States.

Summer Youth Institute

The Peabody Museum of Natural History will host "Biozone!" a summer youth institute for children entering grades 4, 5 and 6.

The program will take place daily 9 a.m.-3 p.m., July 12-16 and July 19-23. It will feature interactive learning activities about animals, plants, dinosaurs and rocks; behind-the-scenes tours of the museum's collections; and field trips. OISS summer trips

The Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) will sponsor trips to Boston, Newport and the Thimble Islands this summer.

On Friday, June 4, a cruise to the Thimble Islands will be preceded by lunch at one of the state's finest Indian restaurants. A registration fee of $28 must be paid at the time of sign-up at OISS. Space is limited. The trip will begin at 11:30 a.m. and return at 4:30 p.m.

On Saturday, July 17, OISS will host a bus trip to Newport. A round trip transportation fee of $28 must be paid at the time of registration. Individuals will be responsible for their own expenses during the trip. Space is limited to 45. The bus will leave New Haven at 9 a.m. and return at 9 p.m.

On Saturday, Aug. 14, the bus trip to Boston will leave New Haven at 8 a.m. and return at 10 p.m. A round trip transportation fee of $35 must be paid at the time of registration. Individuals will be responsible for their own expenses during the trip. Space is limited to 45.
