Summer Cabaret open house

The Summer Cabaret will participate in Connecticut Open House Day on Saturday, June 11.

The event, sponsored by the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism, is designed to broaden awareness of Connecticut's cultural and tourism assets among residents, and to encourage them to share their new-found discoveries with visiting family and friends. The Summer Cabaret will provide a variety of incentives and programs to state residents during the Open House Day, including tours of its facilities, a "meet and greet" with members of the creative team and a 10% discount on all single tickets to the 2005 season. The event will take place 1-4 p.m.

To qualify for any Open House Day special event, at least one person in each visiting group must show a valid Connecticut driver's license.

Summer Chorus auditions

The Yale Summer Chorus has announced the audition schedule for its upcoming
concerts.

Rehearsals will be held 7-9 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, beginning on June 20, in the Glee Club Room at Hendrie Hall, 165 Elm St. The registration fee is $20.

The concert will be held at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, in Battell Chapel, corner of College and Elm streets. Works to be performed include "Missa brevis Sancti Johannis de Deo" by Handel and "Elegischer Gesang, Op. 118," by Beethoven.

Tennis tournament volunteers

The Pilot Pen tennis tournament is seeking volunteers to work during the event in August.

Volunteer positions include transportation personnel, ball persons and tournament ushers. Each volunteer is required to work at least six shifts. Each day is broken down into six hourly time slots with each time slot representing one shift. Slots may be selected at time of application.

Benefits include free uniforms, parking, food vouchers and seating to matches. The tournament will be held Aug. 19-28.

Art Gallery store to close

The Yale University Art Gallery museum store at 46 High St. will close permanently on Sunday, June 19. The bookstore at the museum entrance will remain open.

Merchandise in the store will be reduced during a special closing sale. Members of the Yale Art Museums will receive an additional 10% discount during the sale.

Student ensemble releases CD

Brass, a quintet of student musicians, has announced a new CD, titled "Dixie!"

The album was recorded live at the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library. The CD, which costs $10, will be available for pickup shortly or can be shipped for an additional $2.
