There will be a memorial on Saturday, June 25, celebrating the life of Dr. Alvin Novick, professor of ecology and evolutionary biology and AIDS community leader, who died on April 10.
Novick, who taught biology at Yale for 48 years, shifted the focus of his work in 1982 to the ethical, public policy and community development aspects of the AIDS crisis, and served as a leader of the gay/lesbian medical community.
All those who wish to share their remembrances of Novick are invited to gather at 11:30 a.m. in Battell Chapel, corner of College and Elm streets. A service will follow from noon until 1 p.m. For further information, contact Jonathan McMenamin-Balano at (203) 927-0145 or JonMc_B@aya.yale.edu.
In lieu of flowers, Novick asked that donations in his honor be made to: AIDS Project New Haven, 1302 Chapel St., New Haven, CT 06511; AIDS Interfaith Network, 1303 Chapel St., New Haven, CT 06511; or Hispanos Unidos, 116 Sherman Ave., New Haven, CT 06511.
