Donald W.K. Andrews



Andrews to hold Koopmans post

Donald W.K. Andrews, the newly designated Tjalling C. Koopmans Professor of Economics, specializes in econometric theory, mathematical statistics, applied econometrics and probability theory.

He has written nearly 75 papers on topics in these areas and is the co-editor of "Identification and Inference for Econometric Models: A Festschrift in Honor of Thomas J. Rothenberg," forthcoming from the Cambridge University Press. He has lectured at conferences throughout the United States, Europe, Canada and in Israel.

A native of Canada, Andrews received his B.A. from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of California at Berkeley. He joined the Yale faculty in 1982 as an assistant professor, became a full professor in 1988 and was named the William K. Lanman Jr. Professor of Economics in 1998. He served as director of undergraduate studies for the Department of Economics 1987-1989 and 1990-1991. He holds a joint appointment in the Department of Statistics.

During his tenure at Yale, Andrews has been a visiting professor at the University of British Columbia and the California Institute of Technology.

At Yale, Andrews was named the Department of Economics' Teacher of the Year in both 1996 and 2000 (he also won an honorable mention in 2002). He has been the recipient of numerous research grants, many of which have been awarded by the National Science Foundation for his study of econometric models and applications. He won a Plura Scripsit Econometric Theory Award in 1997 and was named a fellow of the Econometric Society in 1989.

An associate editor of Econometrica, Andrews is a former co-editor of Econometric Theory. He has been a referee for many scholarly publications in his field. He is a member of the American Economic Association, the American Statistical Association, the Econometric Society and the Institute of Mathematical Statistics.
