"Bread Upon the Waters," a traveling exhibition presented by Christians in the Visual Arts (CIVA), will be on display Jan. 26-Feb. 22 at the Institute of Sacred Music, 409 Prospect St.
The prints and drawings in the display were created by the multinational community of artists comprising CIVA, an organization devoted to exploring and nurturing the relationship between the visual arts and Christian faith.
The works represent a wide variety of styles and subjects.
The exhibit organizers write: "In our view, at the heart of various distinguishing qualities which should be expressly evident in contemporary Christian art, is a generosity -- winsomely imaginative, rich in diversity, yet economical in the poignancy of image and the significance of its content. In all of the possible forms, contemporary Christian art should reflect the profound differences Christ generously wrought in each of us. ..."
The exhibition is open weekdays 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and is presented with support from Yale Divinity School. More information is available at (203) 432-5062 or at www.yale.edu/ism.
