Fall Reception

The Center for International and Area Studies and the Office of International Students and Scholars will host a fall reception to welcome international affiliates to the University.

The event will take place 4:30-6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22, at Luce Hall, 34 Hillhouse Ave. It will feature food, music and dancing. For more information, visit the websites www.yale.edu/ycias or www.oiss.yale.edu.


Open Day at Sterling Library

As part of its 75th anniversary celebrations, Sterling Memorial Library will be hosting an open day on Monday, October 3, for faculty, students and staff.

The event will feature tours of the reading rooms, special collections and the Preservation Department. Visitors will have the opportunity to see how rare, old or damaged books are repaired, restored and conserved. Refreshments will be available.

The open house will take place 10 a.m.-4 p.m. in the Memorabilia Room. All events are free. For more information, contact 75th.anniversary@yale.edu.


Babysitting service

The Yale Babysitting Service (YBS) seeks to address the need for babysitting outside of the hours during which childcare centers operate. It links faculty, staff, post-doctoral and student parents with students interested in providing babysitting services.

The YBS is only available to members of the University community with a Net ID. For more information, visit the website at www.yale.edu/babysitting.


Exhibition of concert posters

The Yale Symphony Orchestra will host an exhibition of its concert posters at the School of Art's Green Hall Gallery, 1156 Chapel St., Sept. 24-Oct. 6.

The exhibition is part of the symphony's 40th anniversary celebration. The show will feature early student works by renowned graphic designers including Chris Pullman, Tom Strong and Nancy Skolos.

The posters will be on display 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday-Friday, and 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.
